Retrofit cylindrical grinding machine - brand Schaudt, type ARS 1500 (year of manufacture: 1960)

Our customer had been operating a second hand Schaudt cylindrical grinding machine for more than 25 years. In 2024 GST got the order to overhaul this machine. The project was kicked off by an expert from our design department at the customer’s plant. Various options and scopes were evaluated and the following scope of services was agreed upon:

Project scope:
- Schedule: 5-7 weeks at GST for the general overhaul
- Project support: A GST Project manager is available for scheduling and technical topics for the project’s entire duration
- Pick up and drop off service: Disassembly and reassembly at the customer’s plant
Mechanics & Fluid Technology:
- Dismantling, cleaning and replacing of all parts at the assembly level of the axes and grinding slides
- Overhaul of the machine guideways
- Re-seal hydraulic distirbutor and hydraulic cylinders
- Renewing the Machine geometry including protocol
- Renewal of the pipework for lubrication and coolant
- Inspection and overhaul of the grinding spindle, test run of the motor/grind spindle
- Replacement of the servomotors including supplementary mechanical construction due to the modified mounting
Control system:
- Renewal of the old control system with a new Siemens Sinumerik ONE
- New PLC grogramming
Electrics:
- Renewal of the control cabinet and user interface
- Renewal of the protection switches and contractors
- Implementation of emergency stop and control door monitoring
- New main switch
- New cabinet cooling- and control cabinet door cooling unit
